A Bridge To The Past

Grades 3 through 8

Wednesday and Fridays for student groups: weekends by special arrangements
Length: Flexible, although 3-4 hours is recommended (including a lunch break); $4 per student or adult; $40 minimum (10 participants)

Students get an overview of the history and environment of Fort Roberdeau. They hear stories about the frontier during the Revolutionary War, then spend about 15 minutes at 8 to 10 learning stations in both the historical area, including the Officer's Quarters, storehouse, barracks, miner's hut, and blacksmith shed in the fort, the exhibit area in the barn, and the natural area. Volunteer docents demonstrate activities, explain the uses of 1778-period objects, and stimulate curiosity. This program works well with very large groups of students, scouts, or other community organizations. Bring your lunch!
